Seasonal Offerings for October at Apothecary Bar

From the Apothecary — Warming the Kettle

October also changes what’s brewing behind the Apothecary Bar.

The bright, cooling flavors of summer begin giving way to apple, orange, cinnamon, warming spices, roots, flowers, and deeper cups of tea.

One returning seasonal favorite is our Winter Blend — black tea layered with orange peel, cinnamon chips, apple, rose petals, fruit, and warming spice.

The black tea offers a little caffeinated lift, while apple, orange, and cinnamon bring the flavors we begin craving when mornings grow cooler and evenings arrive earlier.

It’s warm.

It’s fragrant.

It’s cozy.

And after an Arizona summer, that first steaming cup somehow feels like a celebration all by itself.

October invites us to gather in.

September asked us to recognize the harvest — to notice what had grown, what had changed, and what was finally ready to be gathered.

Now we begin bringing it home.

The evenings arrive a little earlier. The air begins to cool. We reach for warmer cups, deeper spices, candlelight, and the comfort of gathering around the table.

October reminds us that there is a time for reaching outward and a time for drawing closer.

A time to gather what nourishes us.
A time to remember what came before us.
A time to release what has completed its season.
And a time to prepare ourselves for the quieter months ahead.

Remember • Release • Gather • Return

October 31st — Welcoming Samhain

As October reaches its end, we arrive at Samhain — an ancient seasonal threshold associated with the end of harvest and the beginning of the darker half of the year.

Samhain invites us to remember.

To honor those who came before us.

To acknowledge endings without fearing them.

And to recognize that remembrance itself can be a form of ceremony.

You don’t need an elaborate altar or complicated ritual.

Light a candle.

Set out a photograph.

Prepare a favorite food.

Speak someone’s name.

Remember an animal who once shared your home.

Tell your children a story about someone who came before them.

Sit quietly with gratitude for the people, places, experiences, and even past versions of yourself that helped bring you here.

Sometimes remembering is enough.

Remember. Release. Gather. Return.

Come as you are. Leave a little more rooted.

You’re always welcome here.
